Rowley Police Investigation Leads to Arrest on Theft Charges

Tips from the Public Helped Identify Suspect

ROWLEY — Chief Scott A. Dumas reports that the Rowley Police Department arrested a man after an investigation revealed that he allegedly stole a woman’s wallet while she was shopping last weekend.

JACOB BEAUBIER, AGE 33, OF DANVERS was arrested and charged with Larceny from a Person.

On Monday, Nov. 13, Rowley Police received a report from a woman who reported that her wallet had been stolen while she was shopping at Market Basket, located at 231 Newburyport Turnpike, the previous day.

Rowley Police then began an investigation, which included reviewing surveillance footage and making images of the suspect public via social media. Police subsequently received tips from members of the public who identified BEAUBIER as the suspect in the surveillance images.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, the victim reached out to police to report that the wallet had been returned to their mailbox. Rowley Police subsequently worked with law enforcement partners to identify and locate BEAUBIER, who turned himself in at the Rowley Police Station later Thursday evening.

BEAUBIER was released on bail and was scheduled to be arraigned today at Newburyport District Court.

“This arrest was the result of the work of committed investigators, who were aided in their efforts by members of the public who helped us to identify and bring this suspect into custody,” Chief Dumas said.
