Rowley Police Investigating Multiple Burglaries

ROWLEY — Chief Scott A. Dumas reports that the Rowley Police Department is investigating two home burglaries that occurred earlier this week.

On Monday, Oct. 23, at approximately 2:47 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break-in on Boxford Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the resident and learned that she had returned home to find a window and door open that had been closed when she’d left earlier in the day.

Officers began an investigation and observed that the screen had been removed from a window near the kitchen door, as well as an open bathroom window with visible hand prints on the windowsill. Officers also noticed that several drawers and cabinets were left open or dumped out throughout the home and that the suspect had paid special attention to jewelry containers. Rowley Police are awaiting a full inventory of missing items from the homeowner. Georgetown Police also assisted in the investigation and processing of the scene.

Neighbors who had been home during the time that the victim was away noted that they had seen a white or beige four-door SUV parked in the driveway.

At approximately 5:36 p.m., Rowley Police received a report of a second break-in on Boxford Road. Responding Officers observed evidence of forced entry at the rear of the home and, while conducting a search of the residence, noticed items strewn about in some rooms, and a bedroom in complete disarray. Rowley Police again requested the assistance of Georgetown Police in processing the scene.

Several pieces of jewelry were later determined to be missing from the second victim’s home.

Given the nature of the two incidents and the proximity of the two homes to one another — less than a quarter mile apart — Rowley Police believe the two break-ins are connected. Both incidents remain under investigation by the Rowley Police Department, which has shared information about the burglaries with fellow law enforcement agencies.

Anyone who believes they may have information about the burglaries is asked to call Rowley Police Sgt. Matthew Ziev at 978-948-7644.
