Firearms Licensing

Are you looking for information concerning a License to Carry and F.I.D. cards? Please read the Policy & Procedure form to see if you qualify.

 

Firearms licensing Information:

Applicants must drop off the completed application and a check made payable to the Town of Rowley.  (Please refer to the fee table below.)

                           

If this is a new application, please include a copy of your Basic Firearms Safety Certificate as well.

  • First time applicant + LTC application: First time applicants applying for an LTC are required to complete a Basic Firearms Safety Course, taught by a certified instructor. (A Hunter Safety Course certificate is not sufficient for an LTC application.)
  • First time application + FID application: First time applicants applying for an FID are required to complete a Massachusetts Hunter Safety Course, taught by a Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife Instructor or a Basic Firearms Safety Course, taught by a certified instructor.

 

Out of state applicants:

If you are not a legal resident of Massachusetts or the owner/principle of a business in Massachusetts, and you wish to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms, you must apply through the Massachusetts State Police.  To obtain a non-resident application or information, write to: Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety, Firearms License Bureau, 200 Arlington St., Suite 2200, Chelsea, MA 02150, or go to the state’s website www.ma.gov. “State Police”.

Once the application is received and reviewed, Captain Sedgwick will be in touch regarding the next steps of the process.

 

Renewals:

LTCs & FIDs are renewable every six years.  The expiration date is listed on the license.  The State no longer allows any license expiration grace periods.  Two months or sixty days prior to your expiration, please submit your renewal application with the associated $100 fee to this department.  Nonresident licenses 1 year from the date of issue.
