Rowley Police Arrest Woman Following Low-Speed Pursuit

Chief Scott A. Dumas reports a Wenham woman was arrested on Thursday after refusing to obey officers and leading them on a pursuit.

CHRISTINE ANN WILDES, AGE 52, OF WENHAM, was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to Stop
  • Operating to Endanger
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Operating Under the Influence (Liquor)

At approximately 1:55 p.m. on Thursday, Rowley Police were dispatched to a home on Glen Street for a report of a disturbance. When police arrived to the scene, a woman, later identified as WILDES, left in her vehicle and refused to stop when asked by police, going around the cruiser parked out front.

WILDES drove about 1/4 mile down the road before an officer was able to make contact with her. She once again refused to stop and left, leading the officer in a slow speed pursuit down Route 1 before pulling into the parking lot of Market Basket.

When ordered to stop by a detail officer, WILDES continued to drive toward the officer. WILDES eventually parked her vehicle. Officers drew their firearms out of an abundance of caution and WILDES was taken into custody.

WILDES will be arraigned on Friday, May 8 at Newburyport District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
