Rowley Police Department Responds to Three-Vehicle Crash on Route 1

Chief Scott A. Dumas reports that the Rowley Police Department responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 1 on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, May 26, at about 2:25 p.m., the Rowley Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a crash at Route 1 and Central and Glen streets.

An initial investigation determined that the driver of a passenger vehicle pulled onto Route 1 into the path of a tractor-trailer, and was subsequently struck. The impact sent the passenger vehicle into another vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign on Glen Street.

The drivers of both passenger vehicles were transported to local hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Four other individuals were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Rowley Police Department.

Both passenger vehicles were towed from the scene. The Newbury Police Department provided assistance with traffic at the scene.
